An AI agent for the matter admin around LEAP
A fee earner or secretary still takes down each enquiry, chases the ID evidence and follows up unpaid bills. LEAP holds the matter, its documents and its accounts, and has its own AI, Matter AI. An AI agent can take that work on, answerable to your solicitors.

Enquiry emails and web forms, the parties on a matter, the bills and ledger, and what each file waits for.
Enquiry details and parties listed for the conflict search, chased evidence handed over for filing, reminders logged against the bill, and a note of what each matter still waits for.
What LEAP is and who runs it
LEAP is cloud practice management software for law firms, made by LEAP Legal Software and built mainly for small to mid-sized firms. It brings case management, document automation, time recording, billing and legal accounting into one system.
Fee earners and legal secretaries work in it all day, opening matters, producing documents and recording time. The legal cashier runs its accounts, and the practice manager looks after its set-up and reports.
What an AI agent can do around a LEAP matter
Enquiries taken down before the matter
LEAP's matter starts with the client's details and the parties. The agent collects them from the enquiry email or web form and lists every party for the conflict search. Whether there is a conflict, and whether to act, is a solicitor's decision.
ID and source of funds chased
The agent asks the client for identity and source-of-funds evidence, or chases them to complete the check your provider has sent, and hands each item over for filing on the matter. The risk assessment and the sign-off stay with the fee earner and your MLRO.
Unpaid bills followed up
LEAP produces the bill and holds the ledger. The agent sends the reminders on the schedule you set and logs each reply. It never touches client account, and a query on a bill goes to the fee earner or cashier.
What each file is waiting for
On a conveyancing or probate matter, the agent chases the property forms, the missing bundle items and the replies the fee earner has asked it to chase, and tells them what each matter still waits for. Judging what arrives stays with them.
Roles that work in LEAP
Matter intake and engagement letters
Gathers each enquiry's details, lists the parties and drafts the client care letter from your precedent.
Client onboarding and KYC
Chases the client to finish the ID check your provider sent, and gathers source-of-funds evidence for the fee earner.
Chasing clients for documents
Chases the property forms and replies a conveyancing or probate matter waits for, and tells the fee earner.
Invoice and payment chasing
Follows up the bills LEAP has produced on the schedule you set. Queries go to the fee earner or cashier.
How the connection is set up
LEAP says its Zapier integration connects it with more than 8,000 apps. Its app there can create matters, cards, fees and time entries and search matters, once someone in your firm signs in to LEAP to allow it. LEAP's developer programme is for developers and companies building apps within LEAP. Your firm approves the route.
Client account work stays with your cashier whatever route is used: the agent does not post, transfer or reconcile. The role is written around what LEAP and your firm allow, and the agent has only the access its role needs.
Questions owners ask
How would the agent get into our matters in LEAP?
Through Zapier, the route LEAP publishes for connecting a firm's other software, which can create and search matters and add fees and time entries. Much of the work here is in email, documents and your calendar, around the matter. What the role reads or writes in LEAP is agreed in writing first.
Will it touch client account or the legal accounts?
No. Legal accounting is done in LEAP by your cashier, and that does not change. The agent can remind a client of an unpaid bill and log the reply. It does not post, transfer or reconcile, and a query on a bill goes to a person.
Does it replace LEAP's document automation or its AI?
No. LEAP produces documents from the matter's details and its precedents, and sells its own AI tools, such as Matter AI and LawY. The agent works before and after that, collecting the details, chasing what the client has not sent and following up what is owed. A solicitor approves anything that goes out.
Who in the firm approves what the agent does?
A named solicitor or the practice manager for the role, and the fee earner for anything on their matter. Advice, the decision to act, the risk assessment and every key date stay with your people. Each step the agent takes is logged.
